Built On Christ | What Does It Mean to Follow Jesus?
Following Jesus begins with one decision, but it’s lived out through thousands more.
When Jesus called His first disciples, He didn’t simply invite them to believe certain truths. He invited them to follow Him.
That invitation hasn’t changed.
Following Christ isn’t just attending church, knowing Bible verses, or calling yourself a Christian. It’s choosing, day after day, to trust Him, obey His Word, and let Him shape every area of your life.
Some days, following Jesus looks extraordinary. More often, it looks ordinary. It means telling the truth when a lie would be easier. Offering forgiveness when you’ve been hurt. Choosing integrity when no one is watching. Serving others without expecting recognition. Opening your Bible even when you don’t feel like it. Praying before making a difficult decision. Taking the next faithful step, even when you can’t see the whole path.
No one builds a house in a single day, and no one builds a life on Christ in a single moment. We build a life on Christ one faithful decision at a time.
Will you always make the perfect decision? No. None of us will. As we learn to follow Christ, we’ll sometimes stumble, misunderstand, or fail. But discipleship isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about having a heart that keeps turning back to Christ, learning from His Word, and taking the next faithful step.
So don’t wait until you have everything figured out. Ask yourself one simple question today:
“What would following Jesus look like in this situation?”
Then, with humility and trust, follow Him.
Live for what lasts.
Build your life on Christ.
